To participate in the study, you must:

• Be located in British Columbia.
• Be between 18-39 years old.
• Wear prescription glasses to correct distance vision.
• Have an iPhone (as some prescription tools are only available on the iOS app).
• Have had an in-person exam within the last 4 years.

Our prescription tools have been authorized for sale by Health Canada in British Columbia. It’s new technology and we need your help to test it, so we require that our testers are located in B.C..

Overall, you can anticipate about 30-50 minutes of actual work (i.e. time spent competing website tasks, using a tool in the app, and answering survey questions). It’s harder to estimate how long it will take from the moment you sign up to the moment your new glasses arrive at your door because it depends on your shopping preferences and prescription needs.

It’s totally possible to sign up, complete the vision assessment, use a prescription tool in the app, get your 100% off voucher, and order your free glasses in one sitting. We’ll email you the usability survey within 24-hours of checking out and adding your prescription details to your order. Upon completing the usability survey, the lab will start on your custom order. Between manufacturing and shipping, anticipate a couple of weeks for your new glasses to arrive.

You can check your vision as part of the online vision assessment. The vision check is an optional step designed to see if the prescription in your current glasses still works, so you’ll need to wear your glasses for the duration of the check. You’ll step back about ten feet from your device (computer screen or your propped-up phone screen). Then, you’ll be asked to recite the letters displayed on a digital eye chart. If you can identify all the letters correctly, your current glasses still work for you. If not, it’s time for a new prescription.

From there, you’ll be presented with additional tools on our app to help with your specific prescription needs.

Your home try-on is free. However, we do collect your debit or credit card info. You’d only get charged in the event that you don’t return the try-on frames. You may notice a temporary $1 authorization charge. It’ll go away within a day or two.

Our Hello Happiness Guarantee applies to your free glasses. If you’re unhappy for any reason, contact us and we’ll make it right.

We can manufacture most prescriptions! Take a look at your prescription. If your total power (sphere + cylinder) adds up to a number within this range: between -12.00 and +6.00, we'll be able to make your glasses. If it's outside of that range or you’re not sure, please contact us to see if there's anything we can do.

You will complete tasks on our website and mobile app—and fill out surveys as you go. We’ll guide you every step of the way with little reminders and emails, but here’s a breakdown of what to expect.

1. Sign-up begins on this page. Then, you’ll arrive at another form with five more questions. Breezy.
2. Then, we’ll send you an email with a link to our vision assessment. This experience includes a style quiz and an interactive vision check. At the end, you’ll get personalized results, including a tool recommendation.
3. Download our iOS app, and try out your tool recommendation. Complete this task to unlock your free voucher.
4. This is the part where you shop. You know what to do, but don’t forget to enter your voucher code at checkout!
5. Next, we’ll hit you with a 10-minute usability survey to hear what you think of everything. As soon as you finish, we’ll notify the lab to get to work on your custom prescription glasses.
6. You should receive your order within two weeks (hopefully sooner!). Then, we’ll send you one more survey to get your thoughts on your snazzy new glasses.

Sunglasses and light responsive lenses are not included.

Blue light is included. You can also upgrade your lens material to premium polycarbonate or 1.67 high-index for free. And you can add our deluxe coating for free.

The online vision assessment is a guided experience designed to help make shopping for glasses online a little easier. It is always free, and it’s a required step in the user study.

It starts with some questions about your vision history, including how long you’ve been wearing glasses and what kind of vision prescription you have. Next, we’ll ask some questions about your style preferences. 

Lastly, you’ll take the vision check. This is a simple test to determine if the prescription in your current glasses still works for you. You’ll step back about ten feet and respond to a digital eye chart on your phone or computer screen.

At the end of the assessment, you’ll get a personalized report with your vision results, a custom frame collection, and any relevant offerings to help with your prescription.
